Malunggay (Moringa) pastillas – how to make it

Dr. Lorna Valera – a researcher from the Mariano Marcos State University

(MMSU) in Batac, Ilocos Norte. Dr. Lorma Valera, a native of Ilocos Norte, pioneered the processing of malunggay in her region in 1993. As a

nutrition graduate and an advocate of a balanced diet and learned eating habits,

Dr. Valera focused on the health benefits of malunggay since the crop is abundant in the Ilocos

Malunggay Pastillas of Dr. Lorna Valera

Ingredients:

2 c malunggay leaves (freshly boiled)

1 c camote (cooked and mashed)

1 c condensed milk

1 tbsp. vanilla (optional)

Procedure:

1. Combine together the above ingredients and cook slowly in medium heat.

2. When almost dry, transfer to a buttered slab and flatten with rolling pin.

3. Cut into desired sizes.

4. Cool and wrap.

Yield: From 30 to 40 pieces, depending on size

    Di ba masarap? Gulay kasi yan eh. Sa susunod na lang siguro, konting malunggay na lang ang ilagay mo. Ang malunggay kasi meron siyang distinct taste and aroma. Wag masyado madami ilagay para di siya mahalata. Ang purpose naman natin kasi sa pagsahog ng malunggay dito e para lang ma fortify ang food na usually kulang sa nutrients.

    This is what you should do. Choose a cake recipe then you just add malunggay. You choose whether you will use fresh malunggay, malunggay pulp or malunggay powder (procedure in this blog). You also decide how much malunggay you’re going to mix with your cake recipe. Don’t put so much.

    You may try the malunggay muffin recipe. It is in this blog. Good luck.

    mabilis kasi maubos yung pastillas sa amin kaya di na inaabot ng pag ka sira. siguo mga three days pero dapat mag experiment ka para malaman mo talaga.

  17. ang galing talaga… me tanim kaming malunggay at ang alam ko lang ay pansahog sa gulay lang ang alam ko. try ko lahat ung mga recipe bka magustuhan ng mga officemates ko kc they are taking moringa tablets.

    Salamat sa pag istambay saglit sa blog corner ko. Ang palagi kong ginagawa kung may bisita kami ay patikimin ko sila ng malunggay muffin. I found out that using cake flour is better than using all purpose flour. Saka mas masarap at maganda ang quality pag virgin coconut oil ang ginagamit ko, instead of ordinary margarine.

    It is supposed to be a nutritious dessert to some people. To some, snacks. We just added some nutritious ingredient so we don’t have to burden our bodies with too much sugar.

  31. Gud day! ito po bang 2 cups na malunggay na isasama sa kamote ay di na po dudurugin or hatiin when mixed with other ingredients?

    Ang malunggay tea po ba ay pwedeng gawin na parang C2 or Nestea na available commercially?May expiration po ba ito or nilalagyan po ba ito ng mixture para tumagal ang shelflife?

    • nasa sa iyo yan ka roger kung dudurugin mo pa ang malunggay for pastillas. pero I suggest medyo, ligisin mo na rin kasi para medyo smooth siya pag kinain na.

      Yung second question mo, yan di ko masasagot. maganda siguro, medyo experiment muna tayo para malaman. Sana naman pag me result ka na, ma i share mo rin dito sa amin.

    • no, i don’t have a recipe. but you may try adding blended malunggay. just 2 tbsp for a start.

    • well, you may try it by adding pounded malunggay leaves. Dikdikin mo lang sa almires kasi para natural juice lang ang masasahog. Pag kasi blender ang ginamit mo, kelangan mo pang lagyan ng water.

    • dito sa min me nagbebenta ng mlunggay pan de sal. 24 hrs a day, always freshly baked. hit na hit. marami na silang branches. puro pan de sal lang ang tinda nila at pipila ka maski anong oras ka bibili sa dami ng gustong kumain ng pan de sal na may malunggay. pero syempre dapat yung mismong pandesal masarap angtimpla. powder ang ginagmit nila so take it from there.
